Üreteral Stentlerde Enfeksiyon Önleyici Antibakteriyel Fırça Tipi Polimer Aşılamanın Geliştirilmesi
Özet
Ureteral stent aids the flow of urine and is profoundly used in the treatment of patients with urological disorders including obstructive uropathy (urological encrustation), ureteric injury, primary or malignant carcinomas, and radiation or retroperitoneal fibrosis. Nevertheless, long-term ureteral stent usage is hindered by encrustation and infection. Systemic use of antibiotics in treatment of infections caused by these microorganisms has been ineffective due to bacterial resistance development. Various surface coatings to ureteral stents have been developed in an attempt to prevent encrustation and infections; most of them work by incorporating and releasing such bactericidal agents as silver ions, quaternary ammonium salts, triclosan, antibiotics, enzymes or other drugs that leach into the environment. The drawback of this approach is that the small-molecule antimicrobial agents will eventually be exhausted, leading to limited functional lifetimes.
