Davranış Değişimi ve Tasarım İlişkisi Kapsamında Kasıtlı Tasarım Yönteminin Proje Üretim Süreçleri Üzerindeki Katkılarının Değerlendirilmesi
Özet
Design is an important factor of behavior change that enables, encourages or deters certain practices. In addition to its functions such as motivating behaviour or persuading users, it is possible to direct individuals to desired behaviors or to prevent the occurence of undesired behavior by redesigning the environment, product or service.
A well-designed product or place can have a positive effect on behavior and emotions by contributing to the production of economic, social and anvironmental value. The basis of this thesis is the question of which ideas and disciplines can come together to create anvironmentally and socially beneficial behaviors in the design discipline or examples, and with which techniques designers and users can be conscious. The aim is to reveal the potential of Professional stakeholders to understand, Access and implement behavior change through design and to raise awareness among design students.
Daily activities such as lifestyles, places, product usage patterns, transportation preferences, eating habits and communication are the results of decisions made not only by users but also by designers. Fort his reason, first of all, the thesis examines the assumptions about human behavior, needs and abilities by summarizing the existing information obtained from the literatüre review on the concept of behavior, the drivers behind behavior and decision-making processes. Behavior theories established in social sciences have been compiled, and the relationships and themes between design and behavior have been evaluated in the historical process. Currernt approaches to behavior change, established and emerging models were examined and The Design with Intend Method (DwI) developed by Prof. Daniel Lockton was analyzed.
There is a need for frameworks, methods and tools that encourage collaborative work between users and other stakeholders during the design process and throughout the product lifecycle. A workshop was organized with Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students in orther to examine and test the working ways and tools offered by Design with Intent method, which encourages and enables cooperation between stakeholders, including designers, architects, engineers, behavioral scientists and users. Data from this workshop are reported in order to identify the areas where further research is needed by determining the effectiveness of the method. Findings revealed through online surveys applied to design students; It has been graphically evaluated in terms of current understanding, Access, future potential and barriers. The purpose of this survey is a first step in pointing out areas for research and development of examples to make design for behavior change more accessible.
