The concept of food, which arises from the urge to satisfy a physiological need, is directly related to the desire to satisfy the pleasure instinct and the phenomenon of appetite. Appetite is defined as the intense desire for food or meals and is directly related to the pleasure of eating. This aforementioned desire varies geographically and culturally. Social structure and differences play an active role in the formation of food, which has become a cultural element of society since the existence of humanity, and accordingly the appetite. This formation has been shaped by the dynamics of social development processes. The shaping of the phenomenon of food and appetite in the axis of social and political developments has undoubtedly found its reflections in art. In the process from the Middle Ages to the Modern Ages, when significant changes were experienced in history, many important developments such as the civilization of the appetite, the use of food as a status indicator, the mass production and consumption of food came to the fore. It is possible to see the reflection of all this change-transformation in the works of art, in which the themes of food and appetite come to the fore, during the periods of food evolution. In particular, the still life paintings with appetite images hold a mirror to the eating and drinking habits of the periods and the sense of appetite; triggering the viewer's pleasure to look, it provides an experience that activates all his/her senses.
