5-11 Yaş Grubundaki Otizmli Çocukların Eğitim Mekanlarının Fiziksel Ve Psikolojik Konforunun Sağlanması İçin İç Mekan Tasarımı
Özet
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) does affect the individual and their immidiate surrounding directly which has various indications on verbal and non verbal communiction, social interaction and relationship. ASD which is noticed in early childhood is directly related to built environment. Compatibility of designed places to individuals with ASD also supporting their physical and psychological comfort will provide dealing the effects of ASD. Especially, design of educational places where children with ASD in the age group of 5 to 11 get their initial education, is significant for their development. Although the studies such as place design, design of educational places related to ASD take place in world literature, there are very few studies on this subject in our country. This study, was carried out in order to provide education for individuals with ASD in the suitable places and to fill the gap in the literature. The research of this study, took place in Turkey and USA. In the research, elements of place which are missing or affecting individual negatively are determined through views of different sample groups (special education teachers, families of individuals with ASD) that obtained by questionnaires. Another stage of research took place at Ball State Health and Environmental Design Lab realized with TÜBİTAK doctoral research in abroad scholarship. In there, research was conducted on color of light and individuals’ with ASD behavior, which greatly affect them. Doing the research in different countries with sample groups, allows to comprehend topic from various perspectives and to give detailed suggestions. Therefore, the new produced information provides physical and psycological comfort for indiviuals with ASD in educational environments. Moreover, it is a step for future studies.
