Alpaslan, E., Assesment of Posttraumatic Growth in Parents of Children Undergoing Surgery for Congenital Heart Disease, Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Surgical Nursing Program, Master Thesis, Ankara, 2022. This descriptive study was conducted to evaluate post-traumatic growth in parents of children who had surgery for congenital heart disease. The population of the study consisted of the parents of children who underwent surgery for congenital heart disease in Ankara City Hospital and were admitted to the hospital between September 2019 and March 2020. Parents of 27 children who had surgery for congenital heart disease were included in the study sample. Data were collected by face-to-face interviews with the participants in the hospital with the "Sociodemographic Information Form", "Post Traumatic Growth Scale", "The Impact of Events Scale" and "Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support". In the study, the post-traumatic growth score of the parents of children who had surgery for congenital heart disease was found to be 71.67±13.54, and it was determined that the perception of social support and the effect of the event were effective on post-traumatic growth. As a result of the study, it is recommended to conduct new studies investigating post-traumatic growth in parents of children with congenital heart disease and the factors affecting it.
