Özet
Today, while forensic events continue at an increasing rate, the development of multidisciplinary approaches with the contribution of technology are of great importance in illuminating the events. Forensic palynology, which is used both alone and with other branches of science to analyse the connection between people or objects with certain places or times, helps to illuminate forensic events. Each region has its own unique flora and pollen signature, which allows inferences regarding its geographical location. In particular, the fact that palynological specimens are invisible to the naked eye, that they have different structures, and that they are resistant to decay and can be found on almost any surface, enable them to be considered as fingerprints of plants. Based on these features, in this study, 12 different events such as illegal excavation, child murder, animal theft, murder, possession and breeding of drugs, damage to property, extortion, drug use and possession, which took place at different times in different regions of Turkey, and a total of 60 different materials such as clothes, shoes, sacks, pieces of fabric, soil, plant remains, animal hair, animal feces and tobacco were studied. The washing method, which is considered to be more suitable in terms of cost and time, was used, and palynological examinations were made on the preparations prepared based on the Wodehouse method. As a result of the investigations, 8508 pollen grains were counted, 27 families and 36 genera were determined. The palynological data obtained were evaluated and the expert reports prepared in detail were sent to the relevant authorities. This study conducted in Turkey has shown that forensic palynology can be used in the analysis of forensic events and a great contribution can be made to the justice system.
