Abstract

The study named Grotesque Images from Social Transformation focuses on the phenomenon of social transformation in Turkey and new ways of living and new ways of social behavior and attitudes derived from this transformation and the connection between the new grotesque images that emerged from said transformations with contemporary painting. Socail transformations that emerge in Turkey in correlation with social phenomena in the world, appraised by numerous sociologists, it is experienced by one of the contemporary social norms which is Postmodernism. Today s art gives the artist a wide range of images with Postmodern images as well as modern images that are still valid. These images can be extended to the medieval art, grotesque and fantastic art. Maybe the most basic role of the artist who is the witness of his age, is to blend in the heritage of the past with the reality of the era he lives in and create new artistic information, images and values.
