Self-portrait is when the artistchooses themself as the subject of the portrait.Portrait and self-portrait has been a part of life for about 5000 years. Portraithas been made for religious purposes, to specify identity in the journey to theafterlife, as a tool for emperors to demonstrate power and domination, toincrease the effect of religion on people through depictions of Jesus andreligious events in early Christianity, to display the power of nobility and totransfer their images to the future.
