Çok Partili Hayata Geçiş ve Sonrasında Çankırı: Eğitim, Kültür, Siyasi ve Sosyal Hayat (1946-1960)

Transition to multi-party life, which is the beginning of a new era in the history of the Republic, is a process that changes many dynamics in Turkey. In this study, how this process is reflected on Çankırı as well as in Turkey is addressed.
The thesis consists of an introduction part and three chapters. The history of Çankırı until 1946 is explained in the introduction section in a general manner. In the first chapter, the administrative structure and changes as well as the political life of Çankırı were discussed. Within the administrative structure, changes in district, subdistrict, village organization, Çankırı governors serving between 1946-1960 and their activities were discussed. Regarding the political life in Turkey, this study examines the transition process to a multi-party system in the country, and the results of the elections carried out during the time interval of the study for Turkey and Çankırı province, as well as the activities of Çankırı MPs in the Parliament The reflection of the 27 May 1960 coup on Çankırı, the 1961 constitutional vote and the general election were also covered in the chapter, and inferences were made about how the next process progressed.
In the second chapter, education and population in Çankırı are titled separately as CHP and DP period and in the light of the activities and statistical data carried out, they are handled both within and by comparison.
The third section covers the changes and developments in health, transportation, associations, cinema and theater, sports and natural disasters under the title of socio-cultural life in Çankırı.
