The International Relations literature on the 2015 Russian military intervention in Syria is mostly baed on the interpretations of the mainstream International Relations theories and tends to understand the intervention in the context of military or economic concerns. These interpretations ignore the non-material aspects of the intervention and the historical depth of the Russian-Syrian relations. Approaching to the same topic from the perspective of the neo-Gramschian hegemony provides the finding of these missing pieces. As a result of the analyzes which were made in this theoretical framework, this thesis argues that the 2015 Russia's military intervention in Syria can be considered as a hegemonic move towards a Russian-led world hegemonic project around neoliberalism.
