Mevsimlik Tarım İşçilerinde Barınma Sorunlarına Yönelik Analiz Çalışması: (Ankara-Polatlı) Sarıoba Mahallesi'nin İncelenmesi

Seasonal agricultural workers are indispensable actors of the agricultural sector in all countries of the world. Housing problems of seasonal agricultural workers who migrate to their workplaces, often leaving their living quarters with their families at specific times, rank first among many problems they face. Producing sustainable solutions to the housing problems of seasonal agricultural workers and their families by protecting ecological balances is an important issue. The main purpose of this study is to examine the problems experienced by seasonal agricultural workers and to make feasible and sustainable suggestions for the solution of the problem by considering the principles of eco-design. Sarıoba premises in Polatlı district of Ankara province, which was built to produce a permanent solution to the housing problems of seasonal agricultural workers, was selected for the research. In the study in which qualitative research method was used, data was collected by semi-structured interview method, and information about the premises was obtained from the relevant institutions and organizations. In the semi-structured interview method, five people were interviewed: the premises manager, the mechanical engineer who was also involved in the planning, the construction technician, the former headman of the region and the seasonal worker sergeant. As a result of the research, the housing conditions of seasonal agricultural workers are mostly unhealthy, families of agricultural workers have too many children and their education level is low, workers' basic income sources are seasonal agricultural work and their income is very low, families try to protect their traditional lifestyles. Sarıoba premises provides a healthy shelter environment for workers and their families, it has the equipment to meet the needs in health, worship, education and social issues, and shelter environments have been designed to protect family privacy. On the contrary, ecological design criteria have not been taken into consideration.
