Quartz Tuning Fork (quartz tuning fork, QTF), that has high quality factor (≅ 60000), is used where high sensitivity is important such as providing a dissolvability at the level of angstrom of atomic power microscope, Production of sensitive clock and gas detecting element as well as monitoring the dynamics of fluid in gaseous phase.As such in piezoelectric quartz crystal microbalance (piezoelectric quartz crystal microbalance, QCM), also in quartz tuning fork, molecules or substances which accumulate at the surface, cause changes on frequency value. In comparison with QCM systems, high quality factor (≅ 60000) of QTF is preferred for researches of Mass Sensitive Biosensor due to its high precision, higher outlast idiosyncrasy and less expense.The biggest problem of sensor applications of QTF – especially inside water – is the condition that it becomes unusable by short circuit into all conductive liquid medium, because of coper electrode which is covered with quartz crystal.
