Türkçede -mAk ve -mAklIk Eylemlikleri Üzerine İşlevsel Bir İnceleme

Abstract

The affixes -mAk and -mAklIk, which are described as “Infinitive, Verbal noun” in the grammar books make temporary action nouns by adding to the verb roots and stems. These action nouns show various process, action and situations. In addition to movement function the affixes -mAk and -mAklIk also have feature of permanent noun making. The affixes –mAk which continues to be used from Old Turkish to Turkey Turkish and -mAklIk which has been used in past but nowadays has fallen out of use is main subject of this thesis.

This thesis consists of two main parts. First of all, data about -mAk and-mAklIk affixes presented by various researchers is compiled in the “Introduction " section. In the “First Part", with regard to the position of the affix -mAk in the sentence (predicate, subject, object, indirect object, adverbial complement), the function of movement and the function of making a permanent noun have examined. In the “Second Part”, with regard to the position of the -mAklIk affix in the sentence (predicate, subject, object, indirect object, adverbial complement) the function of movement and the function of making a permanent noun have analyzed. These researches have done with examples quoted from the historical and modern texts of Turkish. Finally, comparisons such as the functionality of the two affixes in the sentence, their use with the affixes have evaluated with tables in the “Result” section.
