Abstract

Women who have been struggling since the 1790’s started the feminist movement. With this movement, the image and body of woman got started to be used more in the foreground with social problems. The image of woman in general art history has always been one of the basic building blocks of art. Over time, the image of woman has also changed in the field of art. The subject of recurring image of woman always appears in art with renewed forms, metaphoric elements and usage patterns. In modern art, social, religious and cultural problems were handled by feminist artists, and the image of woman was used with different techniques from different perspectives. The image of woman showed variety in these uses. In this thesis study, which is carried out under the name of "Woman as Feminine Imagery", in the first part feminist history was discussed and a short trip to the history was taken. İn the second part the ways and interpretations of feminist artists' use of feminity and female images in terms of modern art history are examined. The image of the woman was examined with artist resumes and works. Besides the artist resumes and works, images of feminity and women are examined. In the third part, a personal life story has been written up to the individual and the self, and the works made were examined and explained in terms of the image of woman in a social and artistic context. "What have they done?" and "What have I done?" based on the questions, a thesis has been created.
