Ankara İli Güdül İlçe Merkezinde Yaşayan 18 Yaş Üstü Nüfusun Beyana Dayalı Bulaşıcı Olmayan Hastalık Sıklığı ve İlişkili Risk Faktörlerinin Saptanması

In this cross-sectional study aimed to determine the non-communicable disease status and related risk factors of the population aged 18 and older living in Güdül, one person from each household was interviewed out of a total of 526 households. In addition, the presence of non-communicable diseases in 1111 people aged 18 and older, living in the same household was evaluated. Data were collected by face-to-face interviews in October and November 2018, and height and weight of each participant was measured. Hypertension was prevalent in 27.6% of the participants, diabetes in 14.3%, coronary heart disease in 11.8%, high cholesterol in 10.0%, chronic respiratory disease in 7.1%, psychiatric disease in 6,4%, cancer in 1.8% and 1.8% had suffered from a stroke. Of the 526 participants whose risk factors were questioned, 22.2% were using tobacco, 52.5% were obese and 30.8% were overweight. Only 28.7% of the participants had adequate physical activity. Hypertension was present 7.7 times in the elderly, 2.6 times in the presence of diabetes, 2.8 times in the presence of high cholesterol, 2.3 times in the presence of coronary heart disease. Diabetes was present 2.5 times in the elderly, 11 times in the presence of obesity, 2.8 times in the presence of hypertension, 3.3 times in the presence of high cholesterol, 1.9 times in the presence of coronary heart disease. The presence of high cholesterol was 3 times in the presence of hypertension, 3.2 times in the presence of diabetes. The presence of coronary heart disease increased to 4.4 times in the elderly, 2.2 times in the presence of hypertension, 1.9 times in the presence of diabetes and 1.8 times in the presence of high cholesterol. Participants should be educated about non-communicable diseases and risk factors, the importance of regular physician controls and development of healthy living behavior and their positive effects on the course of the disease should be emphasized.
