The aim of this research is to find out how mothers’ “mothering” is shaped and transformed into narratives in child’s drug addiction. The aim is based on the claim that narratives of mothers' leading in the fight against drug addictions of their children, is an important issue to be addressed in the context of mothering ideology and feminist social work. In this study which was designed with feminist methodology, the mothers were reached by purposeful sampling method. In this context, in-depth interviews were conducted with mothers who participated in the self help support group in Istanbul and received family education in Ankara for their children's drug addiction. In these interviews, a semi-structured interview form was used to explore the transformation of mothers' narratives within the framework of the life story approach of the narrative inquiry. In-depth interviews with mothers were analyzed with the help of MAXQDA 12 Analytics Pro software. As a result of this research, it was found that child’s drug addiction causes destruction of mothering constructions shaped according to the mothering ideology and creates suppressive experiences for mothers such as not ascribing this situation to themselves, resistance, silence, disguise, (self) blame, isolation, abnegation, dedication. However, it has come to the fore that there have been partial questioning, transformations and contradictions in mothering and narratives due to interactions of mothers in the struggle against recovering the child from addiction. It was concluded that the inability to focus on mothering and narratives in the institutions and organizations applied by mothers prolonged this impasse process. In this study, these problems experienced by mothers are considered from a basic perspective and suggestions have been made in different areas and levels such as trainings on the construction of motherhood and fatherhood in the society in order to provide a symmetrical gender organization, support model specially prepared for mothers’ narratives in the child's drug addiction problem and changes in the curriculum for the formation of the perception of mothering in social work education.
