Özet
To see title design in video games as a mere tool to introduce people participated in the production is an improper attitude. Video game title sequences have a great potential in sales strategies, as well as to draw gamers’ attention to the game. While putting a game on the market, there are three important factors to take into account: scenario, visuals and advertisement. These three important components can come together in one title design to hold a potential gamer’s attention.
Even though there are plenty of sources about title design and game design separately, there is need for proper academic sources about “Video Game Title Sequences”. Will for providing an academic source for the industry and designers about this subject had an impact on deciding this thesis’ topic.
In this study, while the field of motion graphics, title sequences and game design examined with their elements and principles, major written and visual sources have been gathered up. Under the light of these sources, successful and unsuccessful parts of the title sequences in the market analyzed and the reasons behind were evaluated. After that, a scenario for a game has been written and the concept drawings were sketched. In the end, after the scenario and concept have been finalized, a title sequence was designed for the game.
