Uyku Problemi Olan 12-36 Aylık Çocuklarda Vestibülo-Oküler ve Duyusal İşlemleme ile İlgili Davranışsal Yanıtların İncelenmesi
Özet
This study was planned to investigate the relationship between vestibulo-ocular and sensory processing and behavioral responses of children with sleep problems. 104 children with 56 sleep problems and 48 no sleep problems between 12-36 months were included in the study. Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire (BISQ) was used to assess the presence of sleep problems, Toddler Sensory Profile (TSP) was used to assess sensory processing behavioral responses, and rotation chair was used to assess vestibulo-ocular reflex response. The relationship between sensory processing responses in children with and without sleep problems was examined by chi-square test for each parameter. In terms of sensory processing responses of children with and without sleep problems, statistically significant differences were found in all departments and quarters except general process parameter (p <0.05). This section could not be evaluated statistically due to insufficient data obtained from the participants for vestibulo-ocular reflex. According to the results of the study, total sleep duration of the children in the study and control groups, which showed typical development, was similar. However, the main reason for the sleep problems of the children in the study group is frequent waking up and difficulty in diving. Sleep problems of these children are thought to be caused by atypical sensory processing. It is thought that person-centered, sensory-based occupational therapy interventions to be prepared in accordance with the theories and models of occupational therapy will affect the sleep and quality of life of children with sleep problems and caregiver and increase the life satisfaction of parents.
