The first aim of this study is to synthesize and characterize poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) spheres containing thioglycolamido side groups. The second goal is to test the metal iones adsorption activities of thiol (-SH) functional group in thioglycoamido group to seize metal ions.During synthesis procedure, poly(styrene-co-diviniylbenzene) (PSDVB) micro-spheres were selected as the initial compound and the synthesis was achieved in three stages. PSDVB spheres were nitrated with 99 weight % nitric acid, then the nitro groups were reduced to amine groups with SnCl2.2H2O HCl reactives at 65 °C and thus, aminated- PSDVB (NH2-PSDVB) spheres were obtained.
