Temizyürek Yavuz. M. Patient’s Involvement in Nursing Care and Satisfaction
with Nursing Care. Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences, Master
Thesis in Nursing Services Administration, Ankara, 2019. Patient involvement
brings positive patient outcomes and affects satisfaction with nursing care. This study
was conducted as a descriptive study in order to investigate the patient’s involvement
in nursing care and their satisfaction with nursing. In order to carry out the research,
an education research hospital was selected in Ankara and 309 patients were
hospitalized at least two nights. Data were collected through the Descriptive
Information Form, Patient Involvement Question Form and Newcastle Nursing Care
Satisfaction Scale (NNCSS). The data obtained from the study were evaluated using
SPSS 24.0 Windows package program. In the evaluation of the data; descriptive
statistics, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H and Bonferroni analysis were used. 119
(38.5%) of the patients stated that they attend / always attend to the current
hospitalization according to nursing care.
Age, literacy and place of residence made a statistically significant difference between
the patients' participation in nursing care (p <0.05) When the average of the Newcastle
Nurse Care Satisfaction Scale was converted to hundred points system, the average
satisfaction score was 82.79 ± 12.96 out of 100. Patients with illiteracy were
significantly more likely to participate in nursing care than illiterate (p <0.05). Literacy
status, income level, living place and knowing the name of the disease made a
statistically significant difference between the mean scores of patients with NBHMÖ
(p <0.05). No statistically significant difference was found between the mean scores
of NHBMÖ according to the participation status in nursing care (p> 0.05).According
to research results; recommendations for the development of hospitalized patients
increasing their participation in their care and satisfaction with nursing care.
