In todays world, many historic buildings have lost their function and purpose of construction in time; hence, they have been rehabilitated to serve a different purpose. Refunctioning the buildings which lost its’ function, are essential not only just to maintain their lives, also to protect our historic qualifications and to preserve our cultural heritages with architectural values of these structures. Today, historic buildings such as railway station , monasteries , caravanserai etc.. can rarely sustain their primary function, so that; these buildings are used in different purposes after re- functioned. Exhibiting is generally seen as communication tool and a way for individuals can communicate with in the environment; therefore historic buildings are usually refuncined as exhibition halls to protect the buildings and to keep the history alive. What is essential is; refunctioning the building by carrying the old structure, traditional location, composition, balance and the connection with the environment. The basis of the idea for that study is the necessity for refunctioning the historic buildings which formerly used for different functions and presently formed into exhibition areas, to make them more sustainable and livable. There is four main parts; in the first part it is focused on notions of display and expositional concepts. In the second part; the main features of exhibition spaces are described along with their development and also their sustainabilities are described along with its benefits. In the third part; some examples of exhibition spaces which are transformed are examied with 4 examples from Turkey and other countries to made the study of adaptive reuse

concept more understandable. In the fourth chapter which is the conclusion; the informations that are obtained from the accordance of the investigations and studies from the previous chapters are included.
