Özet
The aim of our study is to assess self efficacy, social anxiety, coping skills and environment effect of social participation in adult blind individuals and individuals with low vision. Between 18 to 65 years, 50 adult with low vision (study group), 50 blind people (study group) and 50 adult who have vision (control group) were included in the study. Personal factors were evaluated with Sociodemographic Characteristics Information Form. Assessment of self efficacy with General Self Efficacy Scale, assessment of level of coping and coping style with Ways of Coping Questionnaire, assessment of social anxiety with the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale, assessment of environment with Residental Environment Impact Scale ? Short Form (REIS-SF) and assessment of level of social participation limitation with the Participation Scale were used. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants. Self efficacy, level of coping skills and level of environmental sufficiency in blind individuals were lower than other groups (p<,05). Levels of self efficacy between low vision and blind people statistically significant difference was found in favor of low vision people (p<,05). Participation restrictions between people with low vision and sighted peer significant difference was found in favor of sigthed adults (p<,001). Participation restrictions between blind people and sighted peer significant difference was found in favor of sigthed adults (p<,001). Level of social anxiety and social participation restriction in adult blind people were higher than the other groups (p<,05). According to our study results, vision loss effects self efficacy, coping skills, social anxiety and stituation of social participation in adult individuals. Lower self efficacy, coping skills limitation and social anxiety which caused to participation restriction should assessment person centered and plan intervention programs in accord with occupational therapy models.
