Yüksek Gerçeklikli Simülatör ve Standart Hasta Kullanımının Hemşirelik Lisans Öğrencilerinin Toraks ve Kalp Muayene Becerilerine Etkisi
Özet
The study was qualitatively and semi-experimentally conducted in order to compare the effect of the training done with high fidelity simulator and standardized patients upon thorax and heart examination knowledge and skills of the nursing undergraduate students during undergraduate education and to determine their opinions. The sample of the study was composed of 52 students who studied "Physical Examination" course as an optional subject during fall semester, 2014-2015 academic year at Nursing School of Faculty of Health Sciences of Yıldırım Beyazıt University. In the study; the students of the experimental group 1 received the training on thorax-lung and heart examination using high fidelity simulator while the students of the experimental group 2 had the same training with standardized patients. After the trainings, all of the students practiced their skills on real patients at Atatürk Training and Research Hospital under the guidance of the researcher. For the data assessment; Shapiro Wilk test, paired t test, Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon test were employed. According to the study results it was found out that mean post-test scores of the experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 were significantly (p<0.001) higher than pre-test knowledge-scores. Mean score of performance-on-real-patients of the students was 90.08±8.63 in experimental group 1 whereas it was 90.23±9.02 in experimental group 2; which was significantly higher (p<0.001) as compared with the scores obtained after simulation. When the two training methods were compared; knowledge-scores of the students who were trained with standardized patients were considerably high but no difference was noted between performance-scores in terms of the training methods used. In focus-group interviews; students told that they were greatly satisfied with the teaching-methods; particularly analysis-sessions increased their self-confidence. According to results of the study; it is recommended that high fidelity simulator and standardized patients should be used in nursing education.
