Sigara Kullanımının ve Bilişsel Yük Farklılaşmasının Zaman Temelli İleriye Dönük Bellek Görevindeki Performans Üzerindeki Etkileri
Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to investigate performance differences in participants on a time based prospective memory task with regard to cigarette smoking and cognitive load differentiation.This study has been carried out with the 66 volunteers who were undergraduate or graduate students at Beytepe Campus of Hacettepe University. Thirty-one participants were smokers, smoking for at least one year and cigarette consumption 7 cigarettes per day, the other 35 participants were nonsmokers who did not smoke for at least one year and lifelong cigarette consumption amounting 100 cigarettes or less.According to ANOVA results performance measurement on the prospective memory task showed that the number of correct answers for participants who assigned to easy task are higher than the participants who assigned to diffucult task Howewer, there was no significant difference between smokers and nonsmokers regarding the number of correct answers. The results argued about relevant literature.
