Abstract

Hacettepe University Journal of Faculty of Letters has been an academic and refereed journal which includes researches on the fields of social and human sciences since 1983. All the previously published volumes of the Journal which had been published only in printed media until 2005 have been transformed to electronic media and made accessible via web. Even though the fact that these researches increase the visibility and so access of published articles is accepted, it has been realized that the Journal requires having an electronic journal system supporting every single stages of electronic publishing. The transition period of Hacettepe University Journal of Faculty of Letters to Open Journal Systems which is a system of electronic journal management has been explained in this study. Current situation of the journal, why Open Journal Systems was chosen and how it was structured have been explained in detail specifically to the journal. The system allows the journal to be electronically published and managed. The editorial process can be conducted much more easily, faster, more transparently and in a more standard way through this system; also as it supports the open access, it increases the visibility and access of both the University and the Journal.
