Kütüphan-e Türkiye Projesi Etki Değerlendirme Çalışmaları: Halk Kütüphanesi Kullanım Araştırması
Özet
In this study general information about impact assessment processes of Librar-e Turkey Planning and Pilot Project were presented. The short-term effects of the Project were also discussed by evaluating the findings of “Public Library Usage Survey” which were obtained from 78 public libraries in 26 provinces that are in the target of the Project. Public Library Usage Survey was first conducted in 2014 to start the impact assessment process of the Project. To be able to observe the possible differences of users’ perceptions about libraries that might have occurred resulting from the Project activities, the survey was applied again in 2015. The survey consists of 32 questions such as, library visit frequencies, reasons to use libraries, users’ attitudes towards the training activities that were delivered or that might be delivered in the future via the public libraries. The findings of the both Public Library Usage Surveys revealed that users’ ages and their library visit frequencies were inversely proportional, users mostly use the public libraries to borrow or read books and they tend to participate the training activities in the public libraries especially related to computer use. This study also presents some recommendations for the possible country program as well as for the future works towards the impact planning and assessment activities that have been planning to conduct in the public libraries of Turkey.
