Bilgi Profesyonellerinin Meslek Derneklerine Bakışı: TKD ve ÜNAK Örneklerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Associations in the field of librarianship are important services for supporting professional and scien-tific developments, keeping and promoting rights, increasing social activities, and developing social awareness. As professional associations, the TKD (Türk Kütüphaneciler Derneği, the Turkish Librar-ians Association) and ÜNAK (Üniversite ve Araştırma Kütüphanecileri Derneği, the University and Re-search Librarians Association) are well-established in Turkey. Within this framework, the study evalu-ates certain activities of the TKD and ÜNAK from the point of view of information professionals. In this context, a survey was developed and realized on KUTUP-L and ÜNAK-List, and 175 response forms were evaluated. The results show that the following are among the most important for associations’ activities: developing professional activities, creating social awareness, activities for lobbying and con-sciousness of membership, and cooperation. In addition, the results suggest that professionals should be more active in the work of the associations.
