Innovative and original artistic pursuits have begun to succeed traditional ways of expression when the sense of individualism gained significance in art fields of the 20th century. To achieve artistic expression that was shaped by the period of time it’s in, every branch of art has composed its own language with tools exclusive to it. Since the creation of synthetic cubism to today’s pictorial art, a variation of ingredients from the traditional ingredient of paint was observed. This way of expression, with the usage of different ingredients, has resulted in the formation of a different point of view for art and a new language for expression.
In the beginning of this study, with research and experiments conducted to understand the effect of markings that the alternative ingredient rusted metal leaves on the surface, the changes metal undergoes over time were associated with concepts such as wearing, aging, evanescence, decay, deterioration and process by ways of pictorial and aesthetic examination.
From the basis of works that have been created upon a two dimensional surface that is typically associated only with paintings, the effort to transfer the stains presented upon the reactions on ceramic onto all three dimensions was discussed. This was intended to be performed on unique ceramic forms. In the first section of this study, the usage of rust and the process of rust formation by ways of mixed ingredients instead of alternative paint, examples from the works of artists who worked with such ingredients, and the ingredients’ impact on art was discussed.
In the final section of this study, on the basis of rust stains and aesthetic consideration, the main objectives, namely the process of interaction and creation, were intended to be implemented during the creation of ceramic art.
