Tunnel projects are projects that carry high risks, the situation in terms of Project Management in tunnel projects is intended: project predictions overlap with the results obtained in practice and risk assessments are correct and technical, administrative and financial goals can be achieved.
In this study, a new risk management system was established in the excavation-support and final lining works in the NATM part of the Avrasya Tunnel project. In this context, all risks in the construction phase of the project were defined and risks were evaluated by using JRA (job Risk Assessment), 5x5 L Matrix and checklists methods.
The risks foreseen in this context have been applied in the field with corrective-preventive actions in order to control, reduce and eliminate the risks and the results of these practices have been evaluated by taking into account the root causes of the identified near misses and work accidents.
Within the scope of the study, 17 near miss events and 46 work accidents were recorded. Root cause analysis of work accidents experienced in the project has been made and recommendations have been developed to prevent accidents from recurring. The near miss events and formats were compared with the occurrence of occupational accidents and root causes of accidents and incidents risk assessments and risk assessments into the risk assessment tables that are not available for the remaining events has been processed.
At the end of the study, the results of Occupational Health and Safety Risk Management practices were evaluated and recommendations were introduced for further studies.
