Abstract
First, clothing is the job of covering a part of the body to protect and hide the body against external factors. To adorn, on the other hand, can be thought of simply as embellishing clothing. Human in the historical process; shaped his clothing according to his geography, lifestyle, social status, belief, and tastes. This situation, which has changed from society to society, has started from the nomadic period in Turkish culture and has developed until today. Particularly, the transition to settled life, the formation of the home and family phenomenon have had a significant impact on clothing. Cultural level, geographical conditions, social factors, commercial relations, economic structure, and needs have shaped the phenomenon of clothing and the related vocabulary. Thus, starting from the raw material used; The clothes that are separate for each part of the body have also gained diversity in the form of those belonging to women and men. The value given to clothing in Turkish culture emerges thanks to this diversity.
Clothing for Turks is not just to cover or protect the body; It has become a tool to show power, to be admired and to increase prestige in society. Thus, they chose various products for every condition and environment, not a single type of clothing. This diversity is also reflected in the vocabulary; It has taken its place in written works, especially in dictionaries. In this process, the words produced for the clothing phenomenon can be easily determined based on the works belonging to the periods. These words are important because they reflect the material and spiritual characteristics of the society they belong to. In this study, the clothing words of the Turkish language belonging to humans; It has been determined based on the works belonging to the periods and examined in the context of form, meaning and concept. The fact that most of the determined words are Turkish reveals the power of the Turkish language. The aim of the study is to find the words of Turkish language that are unique and reflect themselves.
