Özet
This research was conducted as an interventional study including a control group with pre- post- and follow-up tests to determine the effects of an empowerment program on resilience and postraumatic growth of cancer patients in remission period. The sample of the research was consisted of 114 patients who came for follow-up visits from Hacettepe Universiy Oncology Hospital and Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital Oncology Clinics. These patients randomised to intervention and control groups and, after the patients who cannot join the intervention sessions regularly and follow-up measurements dropped out, the research was completed with 78 patients. Data was collected by Introductory Data Form developed by the researcher, Posttraumatic Growth Inventory and The Resilience Scale for Adults between January 2016- June 2016. Numbers, percentage and The Analysis of Variance were used for data evaluation. According to the study results, patients’ posttraumatic growth and resilience total and sub-scale scores significantly increased in measurements conducted after the program and during follow-up than measurements conducted before the program and than measurements of the control group. Based on these results, continuation of the use of this program in empowerment of patients and conducting qualitative research to enrich this program might be suggested.
