This thesis is analyzes Erol Güngör s views on modernization, nationalism, İslam and cultural changings. Morever this thesis aims to do a critical reading of nationalist-conservatism through the case of Erol Güngör.Erol Güngör tried to exceed the reactionary and orthodox side of nationalist-conservatism . From this aspect Güngör begin a quest on nationalism, being eligible for modernization. In this context, Güngör tried to redefine the nationalist-conservative conservatism by abiding its essense.Güngör shaped his nationalism on Islam, interacted with modernity and continuity on Ottoman inheritage.
