The architectural problems on the monument, dedicated to the patron saint of the city of Trebizond, St. Eugenios, constitute the starting point of the thesis. Although it is known that many scholars have dealt with the monument which is used as a mosque today, a detailed study about it does not exist. In this context, the architectural drawings and a detailed description of the current condition of the monument are made. It is aimed to observe the architectural alterations the church had gone through, and at the end the architectural phases of the church are tried to be specified. In the light of literary research and the architectural data, restitution plans on the phases of the monument are drawn. With the aid of the documentation and interpretation of the current condition of the Church of St. Eugenios, some suggestions could be made on the architectural problems of the monument. Among the many reparations the church had undergone, the principal one seems to belong to the period of Basil II at the beginning of the 11th century, when the emperor sponsored the addition of some architectural elements. It was our primary purpose that this dissertation shed light to the questions upon the monument.
