Abstract

Recently, interest in the forex market has been increasing in our country as well as in the world. The forex market, which is an over-the-counter market, is the world's highest trading volume. What makes this market so attractive is that it allows for higher profit with low capital / investment as it allows leveraged transactions. High losses occur in parallel with the possibility of high earnings. The aim of this study is to inform individual investors in line with the results obtained and to minimize losses by minimizing errors by the analysis of the situation of the profit/losses of the individual investors trading in the forex market in terms of behavioral finance by survey method In this study, it was examined how demographic characteristics, personality traits, financial risk tolerance of individuals, love of money, general self-efficacy level and taking investment decisions according to disposition effect affect the trading performance. The questionnaire was prepared in two languages: Turkish and English. Although 243 people participated in the Turkish questionnaire, 146 people answered all the questions and completed the questionnaire. 63 people participated in the questionnaire in English but 26 people answered all the questions. 5 respondents were not included in the analysis due to inconsistencies in their answers. The data obtained from 167 people who answered all the questions in the questionnaire were evaluated. According to the findings, the increase in the level of personality traits of the conscientiousness and openness affect the profit situation, while the rich dimension of love of money and disposition effect affects the profit situation negatively.
