Etkileşimli İnfografik: Bağımsız Türkiye Sinema Tarihi Örneği

Abstract

The act of transforming data stack that human senses are exposed daily into meaningful information corresponds to the operation where persons select from this data stack useful information that will respond to their specific needs and expectations. In our day, as a result of transfer of physical sources to digital platforms, production of numerous contents for digital platforms, and easiness in access, the act of transforming data into information is realized mostly through internet browsers and personal accounts, and in some cases the user gets lost among multiple tabs that open up. The design of information and its presentation to new media environments in many areas that embody intense and complex information clusters facilities the learning, sharing and accessibility of information. Many contents can be produced for visual libraries of future on the basis of combination of information design and technological means. The present study aims to design an information cluster sorted out of data stack via infographics and to realize an online application with interactive character that makes user control possible. The proficiency in art thesis titled “Interactive Infographics: Case of the History of Independent Cinema in Turkey” consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces some important concepts as the basis of understanding the concept of infographics accompanied by background information. The second chapter is about the process of creating infographics together with the definition of infographics, its anatomy, framework of design and principles in developing good infographics. The third chapter titled “interactive infographics” focuses on the concept of interaction. This chapter examines the types of interaction in interactive infographics, patterns of action and processes of control that determine interaction. The chapter concludes with the analysis of the case of triply interactive infographics. The fourth and the last ))) chapter address the issue of the History of Independent Cinema in Turkey touching upon the objective and importance of the thesis. The interactive nature of application and stages of software development and interface design are addressed in detail. The interactive infographics application work is available in the address “bagimsizsinema.net” as updatable with its software adaptable to and sustainable with new generation devices. The application work covers information about 25 film directors who made their first films in the period 1994 – 2014, 116 films, 636 festivals, and awards given. The interactive infographics application accessible through the address “bagimsizsinema.net” enables the user to reach detailed information on a single page in line with his/her preferred speed, need and control.
