Ottoman empire had cosmopolitan structure that non muslims and muslims had lived
together .Even though there were economic, social and religious differences,these
people who were member of different nations had lived together for
centuries,Especially istanbul is an important city to be searched on this subject .The
main point of this study is city of Istanbul and non-muslim citizens.While focusing on
these, major axis has been created in the context of XVIIth century. How is XVIIth
century as a time zone? Is XVIIth century a transitional period? How did non-muslims
have a life style in the capital of Ottoman Empire in this period? Ottoman administration
in the XVIIth century and non muslims have been researched within the context of
questions that is above.
