Radar absorbing structures are the most commonly used techniques for radar cross section minimization. The increase of the target band width to obtain the maximum absorbency brings about the necessity of increase of the total thickness of the absorber structure and useing the materials used with high loss at the relevant frequency band.
Within thesis, simulation studies are performed aiming to design a thin wideband radar absorbing structure using low-loss dielectric materials such as Duroid, FR4 Epoxy, Arlon and Graphite material with low electrical conductivity.
Primarily, parametric analysis of principle radar abosrbing structures such as Dallenbach layer, Salisbury layer, matching layer and tapered absorbers were performed to examine reflection coefficients with respect to frequency.
In consideration of obtained analysis results, the resultant radar absorbing structure has total thickness of 2.5 cm and reflection coefficient of maximum -10 dB, minimum -45 dB and -18 dB average over the frequency band 2 - 18 GHz.
