Kronik Periodontitis Hastalarında Kök Sementi ve Salya Nano ve Mikro Yapılarının İncelenmesi
Özet
During the progression of periodontitis, the structure of cementum and saliva alters due to the pathological changes in the environment. The aim of this study was to analyse the nanostructures of cervical cementum and saliva in patients with chronic periodontitis, and to evaluate the effect of saliva on cementum in the cervical region. In this study, patients with chronic periodontitis (n=10) and periodontal healthy individuals (n=8) were included. Single-rooted teeth with indications of extraction were obtained from these individuals. The cervical thirds of the roots were sectioned transversely to obtain 1-mm-thick sections. Whole saliva samples were collected from the same individuals. Small and Wide Angle X-Ray Scattering (SAXS and WAXS) methods were used to analyse the nanostructures of the cementum and saliva. Radius and distance values, WAXS graphics of cementum and three dimensional profiles of nanoparticles were obtained. The radius and distance values of cementum nanoparticles in chronic periodontitis and control group were 360 Å and 1177 Å; 344 Å and 1070 Å, respectively. The radius and distance values of saliva nanoparticles in chronic periodontitis and control group were 424 Å and 1337 Å; 491 Å and 1544 Å, respectively. More severe and more WAXS profile peaks were observed in the control group sample cementum. Similarities were observed between the three-dimensional profiles of the saliva and cementum nanoparticles. According to the results of the present study; (i) cementum nanoparticles in chronic periodontitis were bigger and less intense than those of periodontal health (ii) the nanoparticles in saliva were smaller and more dense in chronic periodontitis than were in periodontal health (iii) samples of control group cementum were more crystalline than the chronic periodontitis group (iv) the similarities of the three dimensional profiles of nanoparticles of cementum and saliva suggest that there may be some interactions between cementum and saliva at nano level.
