In the 19th Century, Turkestan became a scene of conflict between great states. In this period, Russia and Britain competed each other because of economic resources and important trade routes of Turkestan. Bukhara Emirate had a special position during this period when Britain was trying to protect its colonies against expansionist policy of Russia. Due to Bukhara is located economic and political center of Turkestan, both states tried to attract this khanate to their sides. However, this diplomatic struggle led to weakening of Bukhara Emirate and ultimately enter to Russian influence.
