This research aims to analysis the double bass sonata in B minor, which has an important place in the enrichment of the double bass repertoire and is considered one of the most important works of Johann Matthias Sperger among the double bass sonatas in terms of form and performance techniques. Document analysis and descriptive analysis from qualitative research techniques were used. To create the conceptual framework of the study, firstly, the Classical Period, the period in which the composer lived, was investigated from the point of its musical characteristics and the developments in the double bass during this period, then a descriptive analysis was made by researching the composer’s life, art, and works. In line with the information obtained, the score of the work was determined as a document and a form analysis was made on it. The tonal designs and stays of the sentences that support the form analysis were also examined. Finally, the piece was examined in terms of double bass playing techniques, and suggestions were made for those who wanted to perform the piece. As a result, it was concluded that the movements are respectively sonata-allegro, five-part lied and three-part lied, composed according to Viennese tuning but adapted to today’s tuning system, bearing the musical characteristics of the Classical Period both in form and structure, influenced by the Sturm und Drang movement and one of the important works of the double bass repertoire.
