Cerebrospinal fluid analysis is a valuable diagnostic tool for the evaluation of
inflammatory, infectious, or non-infectious conditions of the brain, spinal cord, and
meninges. Oligoclonal band positivity and intrathecal immunoglobulin G synthesis
are the most important findings in the diagnosis of Multiple sclerosis. In neurological,
infectious or inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system, quantitative and
qualitative abnormal immunoglobulin G findings can be detected in the cerebrospinal
fluid. In this study, we aimed to evaluate laboratory oligoclonal band patterns
together with relevant immunoglobulin G results, Reibergram analysis and
cerebrospinal fluid indices, compare these results with data obtained through clinical
diagnosis, and show the effect of the analyzes on the differential diagnosis of
diseases. For this purpose, 2273 patients who applied to Hacettepe University Faculty
of Medicine Neurology Clinic and met the inclusion criteria were included in the
study.
