In order to make Nâzım Hikmet’s powerful poetry universe understandable, in the introduction part of this study, which aims at understanding the resources of Memleketimden İnsan Manzaraları, which was written in his maturity period and one of the prominent studies, and contextual changes made on these resources, theoretical information on text and the theory of intertextuality has been given. By also considering previous classifications on the theory of intertextuality, titles of references, conversions, and compilations have been created, so the boundaries of the forthcoming intertextual analyses have been determined.
In part I of the dissertation study, Nâzım Hikmet’s biographic reading world has been revealed. In this part, which is central for dissertation study, artist’s family and educational life, prison life, and living experiences in Russia have been scrutinized and the texts he read and/or reached in Turkish and world literature have been shown. In part I., Nâzım Hikmet’s literary resources have been examined. In this part, texts and names referenced by Nâzım Hikmet in Turkish literature, Western and Eastern literatures have been dwelt on, in addition, the relationship of the artist with the other branches of art such as painting, music, cinema, theatre, architecture has been addressed. By centring upon Nâzım Hikmet’s study Memleketimden İnsan Manzaraları, intertextual references in part III of the dissertation study, intertextual conversions in part IV and intertextual compilations and intersemiotic interactions in part V have been shown.
In our study, as the primary sources, Nâzım Hikmet’s letters and art and his art and literature writings, newspaper articles, conversations, which are his non-literary studies, have been scanned and sub-texts of the artists have been attempted to be discovered. After scanning the literary resources of the artist, by centring upon the theory of intertextuality, the basic structures of polyphony of Memleketimden İnsan Manzaraları have been determined and the texts and artists in Turkish and world literature that are supposed to inspire the aforementioned study have been retained.
