Abstract

Small and medium sized enterprises are considered significantly important to the growth of any economy. However, these businesses are vulnerable to risks, such as business risk, funding, budgeting, etc. The scheme to prevent risks of small businesses, nevertheless, is not systematically developed and performed. This paper studies the risk management processes in small and medium sized companies concerning enterprise risk management. The thesis aims to find out which risk management strategy is an effective solution for small businesses. The research is based on two companies ie Development Finance Company of Uganda and Pride Micro Finance. This thesis reviews risks, process of risk management, the role of risk management in corporations, enterprise risk management and the management processes. Qualitative researches based on interview techniques were conducted to show the practice of enterprise risk management in the case companies.
