dc.description.abstractThis study aims to examine the transformation of the discourse on interior spaces within a historical context through periodicals, thereby revealing how this discourse is constructed within periodicals as a field of knowledge production. To this end, the written representations that constitute the discourse on interior spaces have been evaluated as documents that make the production processes of this discourse traceable, and the analysis of these texts has been adopted as the primary research approach. Accordingly, the study’s dataset was constructed using “The Architectural Review”, a journal published continuously since 1896 that offers extensive content on the discourse of interior space. Texts in the journal were screened using predefined keywords, and following a multi-stage selection process, 518 texts directly related to the discourse of interior space were included in the analysis. These texts were analyzed to determine the themes around which the discourse is structured, the approaches used to address these themes, and the methods and tools upon which they are grounded. This multifaceted analytical approach aims to make the structural components of interior discourse visible through comparative analysis and, thereby, to define a field of knowledge production that expands the theoretical framework of interior discourse.
dc.description.ozetBu çalışma, iç mekân söyleminin tarihsel süreç içerisindeki dönüşümünü süreli yayınlar üzerinden inceleyerek, bir bilgi üretim alanı olarak, bu yayınlar içerisinde nasıl kurulduğunu görünür kılmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaçla, iç mekân söylemini oluşturan yazılı temsiller, iç mekân söyleminin üretim süreçlerini izlenebilir kılan belgeler olarak değerlendirilmiş ve söz konusu metinlerin çözümlenmesi temel araştırma yaklaşımı olarak benimsenmiştir. Bu doğrultuda araştırmanın veri seti, 1896 yılından itibaren kesintisiz olarak yayımlanan ve iç mekân söylemine dair geniş bir içerik sunan “The Architectural Review” dergisi üzerinden oluşturulmuştur. Belirlenen anahtar kelimeler aracılığıyla dergide yer alan metinler taranmış, çok aşamalı bir eleme süreci sonucunda iç mekân söylemiyle doğrudan ilişkili 518 metin analiz kapsamına alınmıştır. Bu metinler, söylemin hangi konular etrafında şekillendiği, bu konuların hangi yaklaşımlarla ele alındığı ve hangi yöntem ve araçlarla temellendirildiği üzerinden çözümlenmiştir. Bu çok yönlü okuma yöntemi ile iç mekân söyleminin yapısal bileşenlerinin karşılaştırmalı olarak görünür kılınması ve böylece iç mekân söyleminin kuramsal çerçevesinin genişletilmesi için bir bilgi üretim alanının tanımlanması amaçlanmıştır.
