Adli Bilimlerde Geometrik Morfometrik Yöntemlerin Uygulamaları
Abstract
Analysis of morhpological traits of living organisms has always created a great interest in biological sciences. In addition to the use of physical traits in systematics studies in botany or zoology, physical traits such as finger print, face, iris and ear are used to distinguish individuals in personal identification. Its applications in the field of forensics can be traced back to the anthopometric studies of Alphonse Beritllon at end of 19th century. The human external ear is a physical biometric trait which is used in forensic sciences for personal identification and verification. In this thesis study, human external ear morhology is investigated by landmark based geometric morphometrics. For this purpose, 3D ear images are obtained form voluntary participants via Breuckmann triTOS-HE (Breuckmann GmbH,Germany) structured light surface scanner. Compared to face ,ear is not affected by mimics and its unique morphology makes it advantageous for passive biometric systems.
