Velofaringeal Yetmezlik Tedavisinde İki Faringeal Flep Cerrahi Yönteminin Karşılaştırılması
Özet
One of the most important problems that could be encountered after primer palatoplasty is velopharyngeal insufficiency which presents itself with nasal emission and hypernasality. Pharyngeal flap and sphincter pharyngoplasty are the common procedures among the surgical treatment modalities. Pharyngeal flap is successful in most of the patients, as a way of enhancing the success, lining the flap has been studied thorougly. In this study 15 patients with velopharyngeal insufficiency in the control group underwent pharyngeal flap operation with Hogan modification and 15 patients with insufficieny in the study group had surgery with folding the flap on itself. Patients were evaluated with nasometry preoperatively and second month postoperatively. The preoperative and postoperative recordings were compared for each group and the improvement was compared among the two groups. Although there was a significant difference between preoperative and postoperative values, comparison of the improvement between the two groups didn't favored any of the methods. It is known that the contraction and tubing effect in pharyngeal flap can last in the late postoperative period so comparison of the results in the late postoperative period can give more detailed information about the methods efficacy.
