Abstract
AYTEPE, Hayri Mehmet. “Metamorphosis of Objects via Creative Behaviours in Ceramic”, Art, Ph.D. Dissertation Art Work Report, Ankara, 2019. The artist and his works mutually change and develop each other. As the lead actor of artistic behaviours, the artist transforms the works he creates with his actions into a structure that grows with him throughout his life. While the objects become original works together with this creative act; the external world, materials, objects and artists are constantly and mutually influenced by each other's changes. As a result of the rapid change in today's world, materials and technologies that used in artistic production have been enriched and artists have started to use these in a more creative way. The art of ceramics has been influenced by this wind of change, and a wide variety of clays and non-clay materials have been started to be used more frequently by artists. In this study, it was aimed to combine plastic clays and non - clay materials (mixed media), especially bird cages, with creative action, and to deal with the concept of metamorphosis. Cages, which both have the connotations of restriction of freedom and psychological frustration and paradoxically protection of the creatures from the external threats at the same time, were tried to be discussed by giving special weight, which helped to show the relationship between freedom and metamorphosis. The cages were embodied as a representation of the psychological and social obstacles to the metamorphosis of the artist's artistic creation process, and, at the same time, they were also tried to be addressed in terms of the chance of survival offered to the artist and his works. Scope of the research was also supported by the recent history of conceptual transformation undergone by the materials involved in the production process, and artworks from Turkey and the world over. Thus, in this study, the individual metamorphosis of the artist through the perception and awareness changes in the creative process, the variety of materials used in the creative acts and the transformations in the production stages were evaluated in a parallel way and the essence of the production was tried to be explained in the light of the results. Key Words Art, Artistic Creativity, Creative Behaviours, Ceramic Art, Metamorphosis of Objects, Mixedmedia.
