Abstract
ABSTRACT Demirörs Sarıoğlu, Master Thesis on The Integrated Relationship of Ecological Art and Nature, Ankara, 2019 The negative effects of industrialization and technology have caused problems affecting the ecological system such as climate change and global warming. Human Overconsumption and unconscious use of natural resources have caused significant damages in the nature and in the ecosystem. Ecological art intervened with the following topics in an artistic manner such as: the restoration of living creatures (life) and their habitats, providing their rebirth and disseminating recycling. The artists have emphasized to people the importance of ecology and nature with their studies. The aim of ecological art projects is not only raising awareness of the negative issues in the environment, but also to increase public awareness in this regard. The artists presented a new perspective to human nature relationship and ecology by using the critical aspect of contemporary art. The fragility of the ecosystems in their own nature and its relationship with the nature and human is tried to be reflected by ecological art in an artistic manner. In this thesis, the artists, who are working to repair the nature and who aim to create an ecological awareness against the natural phenomena which has become an important problem of today's world, and their projects have been discussed. The painting series of “Gaia’s Dreams” are the two dimensioned reinterpretations of the deviations of the earth as a result of global warming and overconsumption of natural goods. The aim of this study is to gain the reuse of the Mastic trees which are suitable for the climate and geography of this region.
