Abstract

In this thesis, which is carried out under the title of methamorphosis in artistic expression, the concept of integration is aimed at the relations between individual, society and art in historical context. In this context, from prehistoric periods to modern art understanding, the concept of transformation, which is the subject of many art works among the disciplines of literary and visual art, is used as an artistic expression, and what kind of contributions are made on creative thought, and examined how the concept is used in different languages. The concept that determines the basic subject of the research is explained by sampling the usage of the art in different disciplines as well as the material and technique used in the applications through both form and conceptual transformation of the object. In addition, a number of applications were made on the subject of methamorphose, which constitutes the key point of this study, and the subject have experienced in a variety of ways through various materials and studies. On the other hand, the phenomenon of convergence or transformation is a concept frequently referred to in mythology by the endless stories of the gods in Legends. What kind of transformation the mythical figures mentioned in mythological stories have undergone and how these transformations are evaluated by the artist is discussed in comparison with the works of art. During the comparison of the works of art, taking into consideration the formal differences shaped in accordance with the art understanding of the period, the work have evaluated on the position of the phenomenon of methamorphose in the history of art.
