Abstract
In this study, in an attempt to evaluate new media literacy studies that actors of European Union and Turkey have been conducting, contents, scopes and dispositions of the related studies were revealed. Descriptive content analysis which is a qualitative research method was applied to the study. Forming a critical pedagogy that is basedon new media literacy education model in the framework of the necessities of active citizenship is another goal of this study. This study forms a theoretical / conceptual bridge from verbal, written culture and basic literacy approaches to current, criticism and new media literacy. In addition, in the light of educational science, education models and adult education theories that are appropriate for adult new media literacy were discussed. The research includes predictions on how adult media literacy training program acquisitions regarding content analysis data, new media theories / researchs, and adult education theories / that are based on educational sciences, and objectives of acquisition for adult individuals that receive this training.
